Watch: Video captures Florida man staging traffic crash for insurance fraud

A man was arrested after he was caught staging a traffic crash in Orlando.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the suspect, Patricio Gelin, pretended to be hit by a vehicle.

However, deputies obtained surveillance video that showed Gelin backing up into the vehicle and staging the crash.

He caused more than $1,000 in damage, deputies said.

The OCSO stated that criminals often use scams like this to commit fraud, putting people at risk.

After the deputies reviewed the video, Gelin was arrested.
