LPSO detectives recover stolen trailer, arrest Baton Rouge man in $60K theft
Livingston Parish News, Staff Report, September 29, 2025
LIVINGSTON, La. — A Baton Rouge man has been arrested in connection with the theft of a cargo trailer containing $60,000 worth of merchandise from the Pepsi warehouse on Frost Road.
Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said detectives with the Armed Robbery and Burglary Division began investigating earlier this month after a Heartland Express trailer was reported stolen. Investigators tracked the tractor used to haul the trailer to an East Baton Rouge Parish address linked to 53-year-old Darrell Cager of Baton Rouge.
The trailer was later found abandoned, but the product inside was missing. Detectives tied Cager to the theft, and he was taken into custody by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office before being booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a felony theft charge.
The investigation remains ongoing. Ard credited assistance from BRPD and EBRSO in the case.
