Hit and Run Investigation

On January 2nd, 2023, an adult female pedestrian was crossing Route 38 on foot when she was struck by an unidentified vehicle that then fled the scene. The victim was found deceased lying in the roadway by a passing motorist. The NICB assisted the investigation by identifying vehicle parts left at the scene of the collision which confirmed the make, model, and production year range of the offending vehicle and assistance with using vehicle shipping data to determine the stock color of vehicles by VIN number. On 05/03/2024, the Case Principal was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Collision
