Laredo Police Dept. offers free locks after rise in truck thefts

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the top cars that are stolen include a Hyundai and a Kia. Here in South Texas, police are seeing a different trend.

The Laredo Police Auto Theft Task Force Commander, Lieutenant Jeanette Tobar mentioned just how out of hand the situation has gotten.

“The numbers this year have just been increasing since the latter part of August. Just Friday alone, we had three stolen vehicles,” said Lt. Tobar.
