SA Houston Receives Awards from Southeast Regional Chapter of IAATI and International IASIU
During their annual conferences last week both the Southeast Regional Chapter of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) and International Association of Special Investigation Units (IASIU) presented awards to NICB Special Agent C. Houston for his work with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg SCARLET Task Force.
The Southeast Regional Chapter of IAATI presented SA Houston with the Award of Merit. This award is presented to an individual, unit, or department who has displayed excellence throughout the year in the field of Vehicle Identification and/or Recovery. IAATI Award of Merit
SA Houston received the Public Service Award at the annual IASIU conference. IASIU’s Public Service Award recognizes NICB, Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, and representatives from Public Agencies and/or organizations. IASIU Public Service Award
In 2024 the SCARLET Team has recovered 40 stolen vehicles (with an estimated value of $2,687,000), seized approximately $196,388 in cash, 27 guns, 70,399.9 grams of marijuana, 500 grams of promethazine, 3,042.7 grams of fentanyl, 101.9 grams of methamphetamine, 5267.5 grams of cocaine, 1632.93 grams of mushrooms, executed 79 search warrants, and initiated investigations that have led to 45 arrests. Special Agent Houston utilizes his expertise in auto theft, fraudulent VIN recognition, financial crimes, identity theft, title fraud, and counterfeit document recognition to advance the SCARLET task force’s operational effectiveness.
