Stolen vehicles found at York County chop shop, man charged
YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Maryland man faces charges in connection with a York County chop shop discovered in January, according to State Police.
Jamal Desouza, 26, is alleged to be the owner of a chop shop in the 500 block of Carlisle Street in Hanover Borough, where 11 stolen vehicles were found during a search on Jan. 10, according to court documents.
A criminal complaint shows that investigators from Baltimore contacted the Pennsylvania State Police for help because they were watching a stolen 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk entering Pennsylvania. State Police responded and followed the Jeep until it parked at the property in Hanover, which appeared to be a commercial garage.
Multiple people exited the Jeep, threw a cover over it, and returned to Maryland in a separate vehicle.
Multiple Camaros, Hellcats, Corvettes, and other vehicles, all of which were reported stolen and in the process of being dismantled, were found on the property. Power tools and chop saws were also found by investigators.
